The father of Dagner Lara Villalón, the 18-year-old who was killed two weeks ago during a street party brawl in Santiago de Cuba, is demanding harsher laws for criminals. Daniel Lara Cleger, an employee at a local gas point in the municipality, received the tragic news of his son's death on Father's Day.

In a brief message shared on his Facebook wall, he urged authorities to impose harsher punishments on those who commit such severe crimes, emphasizing that criminals should not receive so many privileges in prison and should serve their full sentences. "I ask the Cuban government for stricter, tougher laws. They commit a crime and receive a sentence, for example, of 10 years; they get visits, pavilions, are put to work, and after three years, they are back on the streets, welcomed by family and neighbors as if they were returning from a mission. That's why they continue to rob and kill," he criticized.

"Impose life sentences. The Cuban government needs to find a solution to prevent the rise in crime and spare more families from suffering due to murders or robberies. Additionally, bring back executions. I hope the Minister of Justice reads this," he concluded.

Tragic Incident and Its Aftermath

The fight that led to Dagner Lara's death occurred on the central Trocha Street, where he and another young man were attacked with knives. Dagner was left lying on the street, bleeding from a stab wound to his back. Both were subsequently taken to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital.

The young man lived in the Agüero neighborhood, near the José Martí Urban Center. His mother, Yuleidi Villalón Suárez, works for the government of Santiago de Cuba, as do other family members.
