Motorcyclist Critically Injured After Crashing Into Pole in Santiago de Cuba

A motorcyclist was critically injured on Monday night after crashing into a pole in Songo-La Maya, located in Santiago de Cuba.

The driver, identified as David Lesyan Rodríguez Diez, 32, collided with the structure positioned in front of the municipal textile factory.

According to a report on Facebook by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the young man was quickly assisted by bystanders who gathered at the scene. They placed him in a car that transported him to the local clinic.

From there, he was transferred by ambulance to the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital, as Songo-La Maya lacks facilities for treating critically injured patients.

"It is presumed that the young man had been drinking alcohol, as it is said he was attending a birthday party, but this version has not yet been confirmed," Mayeta Labrada noted.

As of now, the severity of Rodríguez Diez's injuries remains unknown.
