Friday, June 21, 2024 by Abigail Marquez

Local Police officers arrested a 37-year-old Cuban citizen this Tuesday in Marbella, Spain, for vandalizing the furniture at Arcos de San Enrique Park and attacking law enforcement.

According to the newspaper Sur, the incident occurred near the local courts, where the accused emerged in a distraught state, prompting the notification of the authorities.

Without apparent cause, he threw cobblestones and a wooden plank with nails during the police intervention. When the initial patrol could not contain the situation, reinforcements were called because he "would not stop making gestures and threatening the officers," the report states.

However, he later claimed that the police had taken his dog and that they would pay for it.

According to the same source, the accused has a restraining order for domestic violence and had already been detained several times that week for disobedience and assaulting an officer.

Earlier this June, a Cuban citizen was arrested in the Spanish city of Galicia for driving without the proper license. When detained, he explained that he did not have the original document because the police had confiscated it.

After an investigation, it was confirmed that the Guardia Civil had revoked his Cuban driver's license, valid for driving in Spain during the first six months of his stay in the country, and the authenticity of the document was verified. Consequently, the defense attorney requested an acquittal for his client.

Another case in Spain involved the arrest of two Cuban nationals in the autonomous community of Asturias for assaulting a man with iron bars. The Principality of Asturias Prosecutor's Office requested nine years in prison for the two accused, who attacked the individual in the municipality of Llanes, as reported by the news portal La Nueva España.

Additionally, a Cuban citizen was arrested for impersonating a specialized digestive area doctor, consulting nearly 800 patients in a private clinic in Madrid between July 2023 and April of this year.
