A PZL M-18 aircraft, commonly referred to as a "dromedary" or crop duster, crashed Thursday morning near the village of Peralejo in the municipality of La Sierpe, located in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

The accident occurred while the aircraft was performing a routine fumigation of rice fields. Ernesto Cuéllar, director of the ENSA Sancti Spíritus Base Business Unit, confirmed the incident to the official newspaper Escambray.

Dr. Eduardo Contreras Lara, director of the Regional Base No. 10 of the Integrated Medical Emergency System of Sancti Spíritus, reported that the pilot, Armando Leyva Sosa, 57, suffered a minor head trauma and a drop in blood pressure.

Currently, Leyva Sosa is being transported to the provincial hospital for a more thorough examination. According to the source, his life is not in danger.
