Koffe, Havana's Motorcycling Dog, Explores Colón Cemetery

Friday, June 14, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

Leo and his loyal companion Koffee, the motorcycling dog of Havana, are once again making headlines as they cruise through the streets of the Cuban capital. This time, their adventure led them to one of the country's most iconic funeral sites, the Colón Cemetery.

The young Cuban shared a video on Facebook, showcasing everything from the preparations and safety measures they take to ensure Koffee's secure ride on the motorcycle, to their arrival at the necropolis. However, Koffee had to view the site's attractions from the back, as Leo placed him there before entering, noting that the dog always prefers to ride in the front.

Given the curiosity they have sparked, Leo shared some details about his dog Koffee. The pup was abandoned at the start of the pandemic, still just a puppy, which led Leo to adopt him. "He goes with me everywhere; he's the best co-pilot," Leo remarked, showing that Koffee is always securely strapped in. "I recently got these goggles for him; they not only look great but also protect him."

During their journey, Leo and Koffee also became part of another story of solidarity when they decided to help a man pushing his fully discharged electric motorcycle. "For those who have never done this, it's called 'giving a push', where the hardest part is overcoming inertia," Leo explained. "You should never lose humility and always help those in need," he advised.

Leo announced that from this video onwards, he plans to visit various iconic sites in Havana with Koffee as his co-pilot, to showcase the reality of life for Cubans. Recently, the duo was spotted touring the famous Calle 23 in Havana.

"Thank God nothing happened," Leo wrote on Facebook, as the video showed him not stopping at a pedestrian crossing. "The lights were green," he clarified in the comments.
