The sale of liquefied gas has been halted in the main municipality of Sancti Spíritus for 18 days, affecting more than 10,000 customers. José Alberto Martínez, director of the provincial commercial house, informed Escambray that sales will resume this Tuesday at the eight established points in the territory, but not all will have gas available.

The distribution will be intermittent due to the shortage of the product. "One day there may be gas at four sales points, and the next day the cylinders may be collected, also considering the deficit of gas canisters we have. That's why we'll inform the population daily about how the gas will be sold," said Martínez.

More than 10,100 customers, out of the 37,337 registered in the municipality, are waiting for the gas to arrive. The government claims to have set priorities to gradually address the high demand. "Sales will be conducted based on the pre-established queue at the points, and daily information will be provided through different channels about the number of cylinders available, the starting number, and the ending number," explained the official.

Delivery workers will receive their two cylinders to serve the population, as well as five cylinders for people with physical disabilities and other vulnerable cases. They will also attend to 4,000 consumers who purchase through the Ticket platform and have been waiting since May for their liquefied gas.

National Gas Shortage

The intermittent sale of gas is due to a nationwide shortage of this fuel. "Due to the lack of product availability, it was decided to start distribution in the West and East, where some provinces had gone 40 days without this fuel. Therefore, as the supply arrives in the territory, sales can continue," commented Martínez.
