Cuban Woman in Houston Proves City Has Plenty of Cuban Products

Friday, June 7, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

A Cuban woman in Houston has proven wrong those who say there are no products available for Cubans in the city. In response to another Cuban, Ani Hernández shared a video showcasing her shopping trip for Cuban products in Texas, including many items she claimed were unavailable in Houston, such as La Llave coffee, Ajonesa mayonnaise, frozen yuca, and more.

"Here they say there’s nothing Cuban in Houston, and today I’m going to show that there is," says @anitta_liamjoi at the beginning of her Cuban shopping spree.

"Houston has everything and more. While it’s true that Miami has sun and beaches, it’s also true that life in Texas is more affordable," added the young woman, who moved from Florida to Texas, noting the price differences between the two states. "I repeat: I speak from my experience. I love Miami in every sense, but it’s undeniable that the cost of living has skyrocketed. Here’s proof that Texas has everything, just like any other place in the United States, even for Cubans," she said in the video caption.

In response to the video, many Cubans commented that indeed there is a large Cuban community in Houston and that the city offers everything they need, in addition to these products. "Some people in Miami haven’t been farther than Orlando for a day at the parks, and they speak disparagingly of other cities and states," "Houston has everything Cuban—food, restaurants, dance spots, whatever you want," "These are the consequences of never leaving Miami," or "Houston now has everything; a few years ago, it didn’t, but now we don’t envy Miami for that," were some of the comments on Ani Hernández’s video.
