Eduardo Antonio Demands Respect for His Work: "I’m an Artist Who Lives Off Singing and Acting, and Shows Must Be Paid"

Saturday, June 1, 2024 by Michael Hernandez

Eduardo Antonio is not one to mince words when attacked on social media or when his career and image are at stake. Recently, a video surfaced showing El Divo at Tamalazo de Krome, explaining to some individuals that they must pay the entrance fee to see his show.

The footage sparked numerous criticisms among internet users, but the artist took to his Instagram profile to clarify what truly happened last Sunday during the family matinee at the venue.

"I like things to be clear; they say clear accounts preserve friendships. A video is circulating of someone who recorded me last Sunday at Tamalazo, in the moment when I said if they were going to stay to watch the show, it’s only fair they pay the entrance fee like everyone else who arrived early," explained the singer.

"If they thought I would be intimidated by this video, I fear nothing and at this point, I decide my path, even if it's hell," asserted El Divo.

In the video, Eduardo Antonio mentioned that in recent times, Tamalazo de Krome "has become very attractive, drawing people's attention. It has been successful for over a year and a half, and success bothers many."

"I am an artist who, thanks to God and my work, my office's work, and my husband's work, performs every weekend. But I am an artist who lives off singing and acting, and shows must be paid," the singer said, adding that all international artists charge for their shows: "Why undermine Cuban artists? No, my shows also have a price, and I simply decide that price."

"I deserve to be paid; I value myself. I say this because I feel there's a lot of manipulation around my story, my life, and my content. You know what? I won’t give up. I’ll keep making my history and raising my voice for my colleagues because Cuban artists deserve respect, and respect starts with us," El Divo declared unequivocally.

Several of Eduardo's followers on Instagram supported his video and echoed his sentiments: "Absolutely right, artists don't live on air"; "The best thing about you is that you don't envy anyone and work like a mule to achieve everything you have"; "You’re absolutely right, it's your job, and work isn't free. If they want to enjoy your work, they have to pay"; "It's only fair, for God's sake, every artist, comedian, that's their job and people have to pay to see their show"; "Work must be respected."
