Yusnier Figueredo Almaguer, a man who had been on the run after murdering his wife in the city of Holguín last Tuesday, was finally apprehended, according to an update from the Facebook profile Cazador-Cazado this Friday.

As is customary, the official source avoided the term "femicide" and stated that the man "killed his wife due to passionate problems" on May 28.

"He coldly calculated his actions and strangled her at night, showing no respect or consideration for the young woman," the report detailed.

The official source added that the perpetrator was captured on the street in the municipality of Banes, less than 72 hours after committing the crime.

"He walked without remorse, but despite his gloating over the bloody act, the law prevailed... and it will always be so against the violent and unscrupulous who destroy the peace and well-being of a family," concluded Cazador-Cazado, which called for light for the victim and strength for her children and relatives.

Ariadna Gámez Quintana, 32, was the mother of four children, all minors. The two youngest children are offspring of the aggressor, who has a history of domestic violence.

The minors witnessed the horrific crime, according to social media posts by YoSíTeCreo en Cuba. Feminist platforms confirmed late Thursday that three femicides occurred in Cuba within just two weeks, as well as the first gender-related male murder recorded this year on the island. The women killed in recent days, all by their partners, left behind nine children who are now motherless.

Two of these violent acts occurred on the same day, albeit in different provinces. The total number of femicides in Cuba this year has risen to 22.
