Security Fumble as Díaz-Canel Visits Hospital in Matanzas

Wednesday, May 29, 2024 by Henry Cruz

The Cuban regime deployed a massive security detail for Miguel Díaz-Canel's visit to a hospital in Matanzas, but the effort was not without its blunders.

Independent journalist Suney San Román shared a short video in the Facebook group "Yo amo Jagüey" that highlights the confusion that ensued when the leader and his entourage took the wrong exit, causing some security personnel to panic.

The footage shows Díaz-Canel bidding farewell to the hospital's director before turning towards an area he believed to be the exit. However, a security agent who had lagged behind frantically signaled to another agent that they needed to turn back.

The anxious agent, possibly fearing for his job, began to slow down people who were casually walking through the area until the presidential group reappeared and finally found the correct exit.

This mishap did not go unnoticed by netizens, who reacted with mockery to the scene.

"The escorts got dizzy there, hahaha," commented a Cuban living in the United States.

"They even lost the exit, so embarrassing, they make us laugh," said a woman from Havana.

"But, and that fear they had. Why didn't he walk through the town's streets, what happened?" ironically questioned a resident of Jagüey.

"What a show, the cows following the bull. Tremendous theater," expressed a young man.
