A bus accident on Saturday in Sancti Spíritus resulted in three people being injured after the vehicle overturned and ended up off the road.

The incident occurred in the area of El Salado, a community located in a coastal plain of the province, known for its shrimp farming for export. The bus was traveling the route between the city of Sancti Spíritus and the fishing community of Tunas de Zaza, according to Isbel Reina Abreu, the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party in the locality.

The injured are being treated at the medical post in Tunas de Zaza before being transferred to the municipal capital, Reina Abreu added. As of the writing of this report, the causes of the accident remain unknown.

In early April, a traffic accident involving three vehicles in Cabaiguán, Sancti Spíritus, resulted in four people being injured. The incident occurred after 9 a.m. on the Central Highway, near the entrance to the Guayos Railway Station. Four individuals, including a bicyclist and three occupants of a jeep, were injured and transported to the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital for medical attention.

A few days earlier, a truck crashed into a pharmacy, allegedly failing to ascend a slope in the town of Jíquima, sparking speculation about the causes of the accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.

In February, Cuban authorities identified the three fatalities of a serious traffic accident in which a tourist car fell off a bridge in Sancti Spíritus at kilometer 323 of the National Highway. The deceased were Ariesky Duanes Marty (40), Yunitza Cueto Peláez (38), both residents of Florida municipality, Camagüey, and Pedro Ezequiel Vasallo Valdés (43), the driver of the vehicle, with an official address in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque, reported the newspaper Escambray.
